How to paint little wooden angels – painting outline -
Use shimmering acrylic colors when painting angel crafts.
Stock up on paint colors.  Experiment with glitter paint to make your angel shine .
Be sure to get a good quality brush while your at it! Notice the ‘hair’ this is knotted (on one end) then -squashed down- on the head to glue (Elmer’s glue all). Jute string can be purchased in any craft or even hardware department. Dye it any color you want -or leave it natural. Insert lace wings by poking a ‘hole’ in the back of the angel and securing with glue. Buy wood books (find these online) in various sizes.
Use a Sharpie marker for wording on books.
Both of these angels look best when cut from 1/2″ pine.

The wings of the angel shown here are made with ribbon glued on the back. Lightweight lace also works beautifully.

Hint: For easier painting – always paint the entire  angel wood base first -then paint the flesh for the face and hands, then the white cuffs on the hand, the details of the face next, etc. It’s easy to make the eyes= just DOT them. Use the end of a small artist paint brush -dipped into black paint and slowly – dot – where the are are to be.

A fine liner brush was used to paint the words, cuffs, and bow. You can also use a colored  Sharpie marker and achieve similar results.

ANGEL ~~ Here is a mini angel design for you to cut from 1/2″ or 3/4″ pine. Note the painting guideline. Simple to cut- no need to drill holes. (RIGHT CLICK IMAGE TO SAVE)

The golden moments in the stream of life rush past us and we see nothing but sand; the angels come to visit us, and we only know them when they are gone. ~George Elliot
Angels have no philosophy but love. ~Adeline Cullen Ray

Pay attention to your dreams – God’s angels often speak directly to our hearts when we are asleep. ~Quoted in The Angels’ Little Instruction Book by Eileen Elias Freeman, 1994

The wings can be made by inserting a hole (using the tip of a craft tool- or scissor point) in the back of the angel. Put a drop of Elmer’s glue in hole. Use a small piece of lace to insert into the hole. When painting the angels, paint the base of the angels with a flesh color of your choice. Then paint the white dress. Use a Sharpie marker for the lettering and also the face- if desired.
