Learning to Draw – Your First Few Sessions

Article by David Savage

You should be drawing, say, three days a week in order to build on what we’re talking about. Learning to draw is like eating an elephant – do it a bit at a time. I’m starting you from a very simple place, of drawing exactly what’s in front of you. Do it exactly the same size on a piece of paper sat along side you’re still life. I suggest you do this half a dozen times. Each time for about half an hour may be a little bit longer if your concentration span can take it. You can draw the same object time and time again from a different viewpoint.

For these first few drawings just concentrate on the outline and concentrate on comparing the position of each outline and its relationship to any nearby outlines. Look at the space in between the outlines, try and compare these. Is this space bigger than it should be? Is in the right position in relation to its neighbours?

You can as you get a bit of confidence play with the kind of line you use. I suggest that you start off with a relatively soft pencil rehearse the line without allowing the pencil to touch the paper when you feel that your arm is moving correctly and the point of a pencil is over the right area you can lower the pencil onto the paper and make the mark. do this all always as your arm is moving, this will make the mark seemed fresher and more spontaneous. Avoid being tense and tight, your state of mind should be relaxed concentration.

As you get more confidence you can use a different medium. Try using a different kind of pencil, try using charcoal, and if you’re really feeling good try using a pen. A simple ballpoint pen is a great tool but the pen has the benefit of not being easily erased, so it makes you really focus and concentrate. This alone gives a different kind of drawing.

When you have really got the hang of this try doing a drawing of the same still life but doing a reduction in size. Still have a paper on the easel but do the same thing this time not life-size but reduced in size. Do this three or four times, if that works well try enlarging the image.

Using Your Halloween Crafts to New Heights Using Stencils to Paint Pumpkins

Article by Ziyang

Fairly quickly the little ghosts will probably be arriving in your doorstep. That means it is time for you to get all these Halloween Crafts began as well. Decorating pumpkins for Halloween is really a longtime tradition. However, current years have brought about some exciting modifications towards the custom. People are becoming a lot much more creative and putting an creative touch to their designs. Instead of just the traditional carving of the pumpkin, now individuals are painting pumpkins.

I wish to share with you some ideas and the way to information for painting jack o lantern stencils onto a pumpkin. Decorating your pumpkin with paint is a lot much less messy and safer when getting the children concerned. Not to mention that you can be a lot more creative with paint and utilizing a Halloween stencil tends to make the task easier.

Don’t just limit these instructions to the pumpkins you pick up at the farmer’s marketplace both. I use this method on gourds, too. Also, I found some plastic pumpkins at my nearby craft and decorating provide home. They are fantastic simply because I can pack them absent and they’ll be good for subsequent year.

You will find many printable Halloween stencils available on the internet. But initial, match your pumpkin and your stencil design. If you have already got a pumpkin that’s tall and skinny, discover a pattern which will fill in the height and not curve as well far around the sides. If you have selected a pattern that’s short and wide, search for a pumpkin that is squat and round. You would like your image to become obviously visible from one direction. Also, attempt to find a pumpkin that has a smooth side for the pattern to fit snugly against. This may make it easier to transfer your pattern.

If the Halloween stencil is not the right dimension for your pumpkin, you can usually decrease or enlarge the image on the duplicate device. Just maintain the design in front of the pumpkin and eye it in. It is greatest not to have a design that rolls too far over the leading or bottom of one’s pumpkin. Keep in mind, you want to see the whole style from one path.

Ok! You’ve received your pattern and it is the proper dimension. Now, you’ll have to reduce your pattern to ensure that you are able to apply paint. Utilizing a craft-knife reduce out the openings around the stencil. Make sure your blade is sharp all the time. Dull blades might trigger the paper stencil to tear. The goal is to cut along every line only once having a firm, smooth motion. Together with your free hand, hold the stencil firmly and rotate the stencil so that you’re always reducing together with your arm and wrist at a comfy angle. When cutting past a thin bridge region cautiously use a finger to hold down the paper.

Now it is time for you to tape the stencil to the pumpkin and apply paint. That’s easier stated than carried out since you possess a flat square web page that needs to become secured to some spherical object. Here is what I do. Line up your stencil to ensure that the middle from the style is even with the center of the pumpkin and put tape on every aspect. Then in the event you can, place an additional piece of tape in the top and also the bottom. As you apply paint, you’ll have to use a finger to pull down the corners to ensure that it flattens against the pumpkin.

Pour paint onto your palette (a paper plate can be used). Dip your brush within the paint and work into the bristles by gently rotating to make certain all sides are loaded with colour. Then dab the brush several occasions on a paper towel or bit of paper to obtain out any extra paint. It is important to possess a brush that’s around the dry side since it will maintain paint from seeping under the stencil and smearing or running. This will most likely happen to some diploma anyway so be prepared to do some touching up.

More color is accomplished by repeated coverage, not by utilizing much more paint. Whenever your brush is correctly loaded, an even powdering of paint is left when blotted on a paper towel or paper. Use the paint using a downward, or dabbing, motion more than the edges of the stencil openings in order not to push paint below the stencil. If you use a backwards and forwards brushing motion, the brush will push paint below the stencil and trigger smearing. An additional reason you do not wish to use a brushing or back and forth stroke is because it may have a tendency to curl or bend your paper stencil. Apply paint with this particular dabbing and blotting movement in all of the reduce out areas of one’s stencil.

It’s greatest to wait a few minutes prior to removing the stencil as soon as you’ve completed painting. The concept would be to have the ability to obtain the paper away from the surface with out smudging the paint. So, in the event you let the paint dry only a small it will likely be more unlikely to smear. However, in the event the stencil remains in place for that paint to completely dry, some of the paper along the edges will stick to the pumpkin. When getting rid of the stencil, hold down on 1 side and roll it absent. This is the greatest way to maintain the stencil from dragging across any wet paint.

Contact up any jagged lines having a skinny paint brush. You’ll most likely also have to fill within the crevice areas of the pumpkin that did not receive paint. For paint in areas exactly where it shouldn’t be, you can use a moist cloth or paper towel to wipe it away.

Wait! Don’t place away the paint brush and paints. This is actually the part exactly where you are able to get extremely creative. Since you’re operating with paint, there is no cause you can’t do a second colour and even a few colors. Here are a few tips and hints to create your pumpkins really stand out.

Once you have completed a layer of black paint on your stencil, reattach the stencil just above the black areas and repaint with yellow. This creates a shadow effect.

But don’t be shy with the colours. Utilizing reds, blues and greens could make your faces or scenes truly get noticed. You’ve the stencil to guide you in obtaining a picture onto your pumpkin so now stretch your creativeness and allow it to be distinctive.

You will find so many ways to have a good time with Halloween crafts and Halloween stencils! I often believe that generating the decorations will be the best component of any event and Halloween is no exception. I hope you receive the most from the projects found on this web page and produce some funky or scary artwork. Pleased Stenciling!

Kids Halloween Crafts

Article by Terri Evans

Kids Halloween crafts are a great way to entertain kids in the lead up to Halloween. As Halloween gets closer, kids get more and more excited so keeping their hands with crafts is a great way to keep them occupied. The things they make can often be used as decorations so that they end being functional as well as fun to make. There are loads of ideas on the internet or you can try a few of the following suggestions.

Of one of the favorite kids Halloween crafts is to create ghosts that can be hung inside or outside as Halloween decorations. One clever way to make ghosts used wax paper, black card and glitter. You need to cut two ghost shapes out of the wax paper. To do this fold a sheet of wax paper in half and draw the ghost shape. Then cut out the two sheets at once. Lay one of them on clean white paper and then add the eyes and mouth cut from black card. Next sprinkle it with glitter. The other ghost is then laid over the first one matching the edges and a sheet of clean white paper is laid on this. Iron this gently on a medium heat so that the wax papers meld together. Your ghost can then be hung up or it can be shredded before it is hung up. These look especially good hanging in a window where the glitter catches the sunlight.

If you want the kids to get involved in creating Halloween crafts, you won’t want to have to spend a fortune on materials. There is a simple way to create ghosts that only requires a box of large tissues and table tennis balls. Just put a ball in the center of a tissue and wrap it over the tissue tying it up with a band. The ball will be the ghost head and the rest of the tissue will be its tail. Now use a marker to draw its eyes a mouth and you have a mini tissue ghost. Make several to hang around the house. Each one can have a different expression by giving each different eyes and a different mouth.

Balloon ghosts can also be made in a similar manner to the tissue ghosts above. This time use a white balloon that has been slightly inflated and a plastic grocery bag. Cut the handles from the bag and the wrap it over the white balloon. Tie it at the bottom of the balloon and then decorate the face with a black marker. These ones can be hung outside and look good hung from trees or shrubs where they can sway in a gentle breeze.

There are many different kids Halloween crafts that you can get the kids doing. Many activities don’t require special equipment and are low cost or free to create. It is also fun to get the whole family involved and best of all the kids will be very proud of their creations when they are used to decorate your home for Halloween.

Also very important make sure the other occupants of the home respect your space and respect the required silence. Making crafts takes an artistic process, if your business depends on craft, you are going to have to allow yourself the space and calming environment to do so.

Here are three compelling reasons for why you should make use of a website to promote your crafts:1) More than 330,000,000 people worldwide were using the Internet as of March, 2007,according to Nielsen.2) Online retail sales in 2006 topped 2 billion.3) Of 7,000 consumers interviewed in a 2005 BIGresearch survey, 75 percent reported they research products online before going to a store to make a purchase.

There is a clear opportunity for craft marketers to provide website content facilitating consumers and collectors doing research, which, in turn, opens the door to delivering personalized attention and fast delivery of your craft items. A website helps you cater to your market. A site can provide helpful articles, research studies, videos, special offers, scheduled newsletters, convenient shopping, and multiple ways of contacting you.

Using EBOOK to promote your ultimate hobby in arts and crafts

There’s no doubt…

Selling information using eBooks (i.e. electronic books) is the smartest, fastest way to make tons of money online.

Once you’ve written the book, compiled it as an eBook, and uploaded it to your website, that’s it..You DON’T pay to have your information printed (FREE!) You DON’T pay to deliver your products (FREE!) You DON’T don’t pay for warehouse space (Not required!) You DON’T have to hire any staff (Not required!)

… Because your e-Books are delivered automatically, electronically, to every single buyer, within MINUTES of the order being placed!

And, since you DON’T need to pay for all this extra overhead, almost all the money you make selling e-Books goes directly into YOUR personal bank account.

In other words, YOU get to keep 100% of the profits! So, if you have your own hobby in arts and crafts that is uniquely and unseen before in any place, you can share it(not just share but make money out of it!) through e-book. People use the Internet to find information…

… So it’s EASY to turn this NEED for information into a NEED for your e-Book!

Think about it: You have your own multi skill in arts and crafts but you waste it away like that. Turn it into money and you will be more appreciate to yourself then.

Videos – arts and crafts moving imagesMake your site worth talking about by adding video clips. More and more sites now include brief video clips to enrich user experience. Increasing broadband availability and Internet improvements have made it easier to record and publish video clips to your site.

Just take as an example on how Youtube.com attracts people with their videos. People will see actual moving images rather than reading any instruction given. Relate it to your arts and crafts business.

Why video clips better than reading instructions in any craft’s making? This is because you can see the details of every step in doing it.You can pause it every time you need or everywhere you like. You can know exactly on how to fold a paper craft, you can know how the right way to hold a glass, the right way to design a artistic claypot, the right way to hold a knife for any carving activities etc.

So, maximizing your skills in arts and crafts, share it with others and at the same time you can generate money out of it.

If you want to start a home based craft business, but are terrified of selling in public or dealing with people, or exchanging money, then you would have had problems a decade ago.

Bu with the advances in the internet, you can actually design, create and even get supplies as well as sell online, and still be in your pajamas if you so wish! Preferably one that creates something totally different from you, so as not to be competing, and help pay for the show fee, and have her/him sell your creations for you. You could give them a fee or commission. This would have to be someone you trust.

2. If your creations are easily mailed, or you can come up with some great craft ideas, that could be easily dropped in the mail, then consider Ebay, or other online stores. All you will need is a good camera, and be able to write a great description of your craft, and price it well, and research the postal fees up front. People like to know what their total cost for a product will be right from the beginning. You could advertise that you offer free shipping, depending on the size and price of your product.
