Start off with a small size wood blank such as shown. A Scrabble wood piece will also work well for this project. You will also need a tiny screw eye and a print image cut the same size as the wood piece.
For the image: Place a piece of Contact brand shelve paper over your image. Smooth out the clear material over the image, this will protect it from fingermarks and smudges. Next, nail a hole in the top of the wood piece. See the picture diagram below. Use a small finish nail -just to start a hole for the screw eye.
Twist in the screw eye. Spread the face of the wood with a white glue, such as Elmer’s. Leave the glue a few minutes until tacky. Place your image on the wood and smooth out any excess glue out the edges. To finish your wood jewelry piece, use a wood nail file and lightly sand the edges. To hang your wood jewelry pendant, attach a ball and chain necklace. Free clip art image of Teddy bear is below...

Make a Kitty Wood Brooch Pin or Magnet
See instructions below for making brooch pin.
Start by getting a round wood disc (see source below) Cut a round matching shape to glue on the front of the wood disc. Glue a bar pin on the back with Elmer's white glue. Let dry over night.
To make a wood magnet - glue a magnet disk on the back. Hot glue or Elmer's glue work great.

When cutting a circle picture for the front of the brooch pin, you may want to put a layer of clear contact film over the front of the image. This will protect the image from water and fingerprints.
