1) - you will want to paint the entire piece a base color before you apply the final details. For the Santa, paint the entire piece red, or your chosen color.
2) Next, when the paint has dried, use transfer paper to trace the the face and the beard, etc.
3) Once you have transferred the detail use a flesh color (or other tone) and paint the entire face). The idea here when painting, is to paint in layers.
4)Once the face has been painted, if you need to apply the rest of the face by transferring, then go ahead and use the paper again and transfer the facial features.
Sell as a pair. Purchase white and red paints at a decorating paint shop in pints or gallons. Benjamin Moore makes an excellent quality acrylic paint. It is more economical then to purchase individual crafts paints.
