There is no painting this old house!

Do you love old houses? Some of the old victorian or country homes remain with charm & untimley character . In this photo I had taken a picture of a bungalow while at the beach. I had several copies of the photo made. This cost only 10 cents. I did NOT get photocopies, I ordered the same photo’s so I would have substance and strength for this project. This is very simple- only 4 steps to complete: I glued the photo onto a piece of luan plywood. I cut around the edges. Then I applied white arcylic paint here and there for a snow effect. I took a old toothbrush and ‘flecked’ white dots for the snowflakes. Lastly - I glued a magnet on the back. Remember this was a old beach shack? Now it’s a New Hampshire souvenir ! Use a Sharpie marker for writing on your finished wood product.

A handmade Valentines Day gift is delightful & more personal than an expensive store-bought item. This year be encouraged to make glorious Valentines Day gifts made from the heart. Happy Valentine’s Day. Materials other than wood used in this project are : jute string (dyed red) is knotted -then glue to top of head. Store bought mini straw basket. The kittens in the basket are cut from 1/2″ pine wood. A strip of paper with the word “free kittens” is glued on the front. Use Elmer’s glue for all gluing. Glue on the basket to the side of the mini. Glue the kitties in the basket.

Victorian Row Boat Man & Woman LoversCreate this cute romance wood novelty with no inside cuts. That means no drilling involved. This wood peice looks great cut from 1/2″ or 3/4″ pine wood. Create a magnet using 1/4″ luan. The wood collectible is approx a little more than 3″ in width. Use the picture as a painting guideline - See this link for cutting pattern and another outlined painting guide. Use quality acrylic paints (such as Folkart) for best results. Grab the Christmas gift wrap with pretty graphics. Snowmen, skaters, and glorious landscapes can be used to make Christmas wood collectibles. Cut the image out of the wrapping paper. Glue the image onto the wood. Use spray glue or Elmer’s watered down glue - or decoupage glue. If using Elmer’s white glue, water it down a little bit and brush on the solution on the gift wrap. Smooth out any air bubbles carefully. Once the image is glued on the wood, cut out the image. Paint the sides of the raw wood with acrylic paint, if desired. Coat the finished piece with a clear matte or gloss water-based varnish. If cutting using 1/2 inch wood you may need to add an extra base to make the wood piece stand.

One and a two and a three. Pick some beautiful Christmas wrapping paper. Find some Elmer’s glue or spray adhesive craft glue. If you want to make fridge magnets or Christmas ornaments use a thin 1/4″ luan or birch wood. Make a standing holiday ornament by cutting with 1/2 pine.

Make Christmas Decorations with roll Christmas wrapping paperYes -right under your nose are the most beautiful designs that can be found on holiday wrapping roll papers. The paper texture is the perfect consistency to glue and cut on wood. To make amazing magnets & Christmas tree ornaments use 1/4″ luan or birch wood. For standing decorations use a thickness of at least 1/2″ . You can make a thicker base later and apply to the bottom of the piece to make it stand. DIRECTIONS: Select the image on the wrap you are going to use. Cut around the section of the image. Spray the back of the image with spray adhesive or a diluted solution of white glue. Next: place the glued side down on the wood and smooth out any bubbles. Cut out the image. Lightly sand any rough edges. Paint the face of the cut-out with a water base varnish such Folkart clear satin or gloss for proctection. Let dry. Optional last step: choose an acrylic paint color for the sides of the decoration. For a beautiful effect -choose a shimmering gold or silver acrylic paint. Purchase this paint from the craft paint section of Michaels or AC Moore. When you are finished painting the sides, you can also paint the face of the ornament with sparkle acrylic paints. For example: if there are candy canes in the image or stars in the sky, you can add touches with a small brush with sparkles here and there! Enjoy your new creation!

h1>How to make Christmas Scroll Ornaments

USE 1/4 LUAN OR BIRCH FOR MAGNETS - 1/2″ size pine also works well for magnets as well as making ornaments. (1) First right click oval Christmas image with your mouse and save onto your computer. (2) Next open up ‘Paint’ program -if you have it on your computer. Any other photo editing program will work as well as Photoscape from Google which is free to download. (3) Click -paste- in the EDIT portion of the program to save, size and print the image. (4) Print your image onto your printer. You do not need to use any particular photo paper when printing. Regular 20lb. copy will print and glue well as long as your printer makes good quality prints. NOTE: For quantity and less time wasted- put multiples of the image(s) on one sheet. (5) Cut and glue the back of the copy paper with your image using a spray adhesive (available at craft centers), or evenly spread deluted white glue with a clean wide brush. Elmer’s glue works well for this. (6) Place the glued side of the paper onto the wood. Carefully smooth out any bubbles. To keep the image clean, use soft thin cloth or paper towel on top of the image while smoothing. (7) Cut out the images. (8) Once image is cut, sand any rough edges smooth. Paint the surface of the picture with a water base varnish for protection. A good varnish is Folkart acrylic clear satin. Finishing step - use Folkart acrylic sparkle paints for beautiful accents. This finishing touch will make your ornaments pop. To hang add a gold or silver elastic string in the top and you are finished. You can purchase the string in the jewelry section of any major crafts store.
