The Christmas house ornament has a tiny straw broom glued onto the front-once it is painted. Also- attach a gold string onto the top so it can hang. To attached the string, poke or drill a tiny hole in the top of the ornament. Insert a drop of Elmer’s glue in the hole-then insert the string. Let dry. The Someone Loves You House is also stained -so grain can show thru. A tiny broom is glued on the front.

Many variations can be made from one design. Don’t stop at painting these brown. Try lite blues, pinks and orange for Halloween. And as long as the one standing foot is square and flat to the ground — He will stand on one foot! How cute is that? Turn him into a witch and add a wand with tiny gold elastic strings dangling. (See the mics. tab for more on supplies.) ~~Or you can leave him as a tiny cutie teddy bear. Cut him small or cut him large – the concept should still be the same with him standing on – one foot.

Cut this strip of houses from 1/2″ or 3/4″ pine wood. The base is separate and glued with Elmer’s. Quick tip: when painting the WINDOWS of the houses – purchase a square shaped flat acrylic brush. Decide on the size (width) windows you want- then match up the -width- of the bristles on the brush. All you need is “one stroke” of black paint on your brush and you can paint the windows with ease. Practice first on scrape paper to see how easy this is. Also- use a brush you are ready to toss- to scrunch down and use to make the trees and bushes. Pounch on the brush -(practice on scrap ) First -start with a dark green. Let dry- and then go lightly over the green with the light green for highlights.
Here is a easy project for a fun Halloween decoration. Make these heart shaped novelties by purchasing ready-made hearts. They come in various sizes/ the width is about 1/2″ thick. For the smaller heart it is about 1.8″ thick. These can be magnets as well as free standing pieces. Here is the easy part — Buy the wood heart — right click the image on this blog – save it to your computer. Print out the image and glue it onto the wood heart. Of course -you will have to size the copy size of the image to the size of the wood, but once you’ve gotten size down – print and glue these for stunning Halloween accents that are easy! Use Elmer’s glue for the glue -smooth out any bubbles. Notice that for the haunted house below- after you have glued the image onto the wood- glue on a tiny straw broom to the left of the door (with Elmer’s ) for a whimsy effect. Let broom dry overnight.
