You Learn to Draw by Drawing

Drawing is relatively very simple and an easy skill and is something with which you can have great fun. It is also relatively an inexpensive hobby and you can start with paper and a pencil.  It can go on till acquiring costly pen and tablets - a computer hardware through which you can draw on your computer.  It is very costly; however the precision for perfection is very high.

Like all other art forms, with constant and systematic practice one can become a great artist.Listed below are few drawing tips which can help anyone improve their skill and become an artist. Reading and practicing these in your daily routine will improve your skill.

1. If you are drawing and you are right handed person, ensure that the light is from your left side. This will prevent your hand shadow falling on your paper.
2. First step when you practice drawing - you should practice drawing line, straight line, curved line, scribbled lines, and your hand should obey the command of your thoughts and visions. You should control your hand and you should be able to bring out what you want.

3. You should further develop drawing circles, oval shapes, crossed lines and bold and thick lines.  Just like how a baby develops from crawling stage to walking stage, your art should also develop step by step.

4. These lines and curves are like pillars to a building. The foundation should be strong enough to have a good building; similarly these initial small lines and curves will go a long way in your career. You should also start controlling the stress on your pencil. You should be able to bring the correct darkness and thickness in the lines what you draw.

5. Initially you will not be able to draw a circle or an oval shape correctly, nevertheless don't get discouraged. You should practice and practice until you get perfection.  You should also keep all your drawings carefully from the start to know how you are improving. You could also date your sketches and preserve it for the future.

6. You should concentrate in the area where you feel you are weak.  If you are not able to shade properly then learn more to do that.  You can try out your own style of shading.  Build your own individuality, never copy from another artist.

7. Last but not the least, use good quality materials. 4B and 6B pencils and good chart paper or note book with good quality paper should be sufficient to start with.  Quality definitely matters hence never compromise on quality.               Free articles database.

Heavy traffic is what you need to sell your art

Do you want to sell your art on the web but don’t know how to begin? Do you already sell your art on the internet but have no sales?
I did a Google search for “sell your art on the internet” and I came up with 295 million instances. I have written this post to share my experience with Fineartamerica.  You can upload a file from your art on this site and for $30 a year you get unlimited uploads. The beauty of this site is it gets a lot of traffic. Traffic is what you need if you want to sell on a regular basis. The site offers to format your art and sell it as greeting cards as well as canvas and plain paper prints. Anyone that purchases prints  from this site can also mat and frame the art as well. Another feature I like about this  site is it shows you what has sold that day from other artists.

This should be enough motivation to inspire even the most skeptic artist. The trick to knowing how to upload an image to this site is simply to have a high resolution image file created  from your art. You can either take a digital photo of your  art if it  is large, or you can place it on a scanner bed. When scanning on the bed, set your scanning to allow for high resolution setting. When taking a digital photo, set the camera for high resolution as well. Details for setting the camera can be found on the cameras menu button. If you don't have a scanner, may I suggest an Epson V330 or similar. This equipment  is inexpensive  and takes beautiful scans as well. I had purchased an all-in-one copier thinking I could get the whole deal, but I was disappointed. Not all scanners are created equal. I compared both scans from both the Epson and the Canon all in one and the Epson shows the crispness and detail I want.  If you just want to try Fine art america you can upload images for free and then add a link to your website or eBay store where customers can buy more art you have to offer. So, don't waste anymore more time, upload some great art you have made and let the world see it! Posted by author  S. Pimental

Try using a flat brush for painting with acrylics!

Painting pictures should be relaxing and fun!

Have you ever seen the old shows on tv called the Magic of Painting? It was where you would paint with just one large square brush. If you followed along with the instructor, the painting process went quickly, and it would look amazing when finished! That’s why they called it the magic of painting. With this particular painting I did, I used a similar technique. I used a smaller version of a flat brush. I used a number 6 Artist Loft artist brush. I was able to paint this folk art painting fairly quickly in about an hour. I painted it on chipboard and put it in a dollar store wood frame. I like the dollar store frames because they are of good quality and I hate using plastic. The acrylic takes very well to the chipboard and I love it. When painting my picture; I save time painting by not dipping my brush in water each time I change colors.

Here’s a Tip to make your painting more enjoyable. I use a lot of scrap paper beneath the painting and wipe the brush dry and change colors. When I wipe the brush dry it also brings the brush back into shape between strokes. When the brush is in shape, the advantage is I can use the very, very corner tip of the brush to do very fine details. This is where the magic comes in. There’s no time wasted by changing out brushes.
