Make your own craft patterns with free editing software

I use  PhotoScape when I want to get a particular look with my digital photos. I mostly like it for making outlines on the images for creating craft pattern outlines used for lots of projects. Just think of the possibilities you have have with this and what you can do with your photos. 

STEP 1: I loaded a digital photo of Abbey into PhotoScape.

STEP 2: Abbey with enhancement -at the Home section choose Filter, then click Pictorialization, then Color Engraving.

Here's my cat Cocoa again. Let's emboss him....

 Here I loaded him into PhotoScape editor. Then on the Home section of the dash, I click the Filter button. Then I click the Embossing button.

Click the "Crop" tab to crop as an oval or circle. Here's a clear look at the embossed picture. I used the crop ' circle' feature to make this image. The way to learn this fun and creative program is to experiment with it. Spend some time with different photos  and see what the buttons can do and how they change your image in endless designs.

Here I chose a watercolor outline effect for Cocoa.
This outline can be used as a scroll saw pattern, painting outline or a cross stitch or sewing pattern.
